Forbidden Planet:
Futuristic Familiarity
and Fifties Science Fiction
is a multimedia project
which was created using authoring
software developed by USC's
Center for Scholarly Technology.
The software was designed for
scholarly publishing and included
a laser disc driver which allowed
authors to juxtapose a textually-
conveyed visual analysis of a
film sequence and the sequence itself.
Filmic images could also be compared to
art, advertising, domestic architecture,
comics, and newspaper headlines
from the period in question.
