One
key focus of the new Laboratory for
Advanced Computing Initiatives (LACI),
which has been opened in the expanded
New Media Center space on the first floor
of Skiles, has been building prototypes of
multisequential, multiform stories and
authoring tools for nonprogrammers that
will promote expressive and coherent
storytelling. These prototypes and tools
have particular relevance to the emerging
broadband environment -- the merger of
the Web, cd-rom, film, and television,
which will open up the possibilities of new
fictional, non-fictional, and educational
story formats. |
