Student Enrollment |

Class MakeupBy the end of the first week of the summer 1998 quarter, my two LCC 3020 classes consisted of approximately 80 students. Based on past enrollments, I expected approximately 40-50 students in two sections of the writing course; we lost the first week's time while I restructured the class to help accommodate the large number of students. Rather than completely change the course content to simplify the project for the large number of students, I decided to provide a little more structure than I had intended at first, but to proceed with the project as I had planned it. The most difficult aspect of the project was that the students would have to find means to communicate with each other and coordinate their work among a huge group of horizontally structured participants. Fortunately, despite the frustration that this circumstance caused, I think it provided a valuable learning experience. |
