Proposal
As a collaborative group, you will research and develop a plan for effective group collaboration. This will help you understand the benefits and detriments of collaboration for your own work, but it will also help students in other classes with their work and form a basis for your further analytical study later in the course.
Based on your work, you will create and submit a proposal of your
plan for effective collaboration to groups of students in one of my
other classes. To help prepare materials to incorporate into your
work and provide information that will be helpful to the class as a
whole, as a part of the project you will provide individual annotated
bibliographies of 10 sources each. (Due Sept 11).
I will post these bibliographies
on the Web for everyone in the class to use.
To specify your duties for the project, you will create a contract among your group members. Each of you will sign and submit the contract to me with a copy of your proposal. Be sure that you contract for duties of equal difficulty that consume roughly the same amount of time.
You must use memo format for your proposals. (Proposal and K due Oct 2.)
Progress Report
You will provide an oral progress report of the work that you are
undertaking on your analysis projects. You will use the same
elements necessary for coverage in written progress reports, but
deliver them in an oral report. Your report should be clear, well
structured, comprehensive, and persuade your listeners that you are
making good progress with your analytical work and that you will
accomplish the goals you set out for your reports. (Due Oct 30.)
Analytical Report
Your collaborative group will analyze the efficacy of your proposal plans as they are used, misused, or not at al used by the collaborative groups who received them. You will choose a methodology for testing your plans, apply it, collect results, analyze the results, then make conclusions based on the analysis. (To do this, you will need to interact with the students in the collaborative group using your plan.)
To specify your duties for the project, you will create a contract among your group members. Each of you will sign and submit the contract to me with a copy of your proposal. Be sure that you contract for duties of equal difficulty that consume roughly the same amount of time.
You must use analytical report format to communicate your results. (Report and K due Nov 27.)
Oral Report on Analytical Report
You will provide an oral report on the work that you completed in your analysis projects. You will explain the work you did in your part of the project, describe what part of the work succeeded and what did not, and describe the new knowledge that you developed by working through your project. Your report should be clear, well structured, and comprehensive. (Due Nov 27.)
