”” Emma Crandall is currently a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at Georgia Tech, where she teaches courses in rhetoric, composition, gender studies, and media studies. Her courses encourage students to think critically about their world and make positive contributions to campus life. Dr. Crandall’s former students have created art installations at the campanile, staged multiple poster exhibitions in the Library's East Commons, and produced video documentaries about local communities and issues, including diversity on Tech's campus and homelessness in Atlanta.

Dr. Crandall received a PhD in English and Women's Studies from the University of Michigan, where she wrote her dissertation on masculinity, friendship, and Gertrude Stein. Her current research focuses on fashion and style and the history of butch glamour. Aside from being an academic, Dr. Crandall is also a writer, activist, and community organizer.
