align="left"/ Dr. Lawson is a 3rd year Brittain Fellow who has been teaching Technical Communication (LCC3401). As part of her work at Georgia Tech, Dr. Lawson has created special sections of LCC3401 designed for the needs of computer science students. In addition to her teaching work, Dr. Lawson has been active on a number of committees around the faculty including the Writing and Communication Committee, the Technical Communication Minor Committee and the Brittain Fellows Handbook Committee. In late 2009 she was asked to chair the organizing committee for the first multimodal symposium at Georgia Tech, Rhetorical Reflections: Borderless Pedagogy in a Digital World.

Dr. Lawson conducts research across a range of communication and new media studies topics including: gender communication online, conflict negotiation in online groups, internet research ethics and the effect of new media on society and mass media communication. Her current research includes work regarding risk rhetoric and swine flu news interviews, and religious categorization in news reports of the 2008 presidential election.
