A Few Notes...
While attending college in Massachusetts, I once claimed I was “from Atlanta” in front of someone who actually grew up in the city. He said, “Oh really, where?” I said “Gwinnett County.” He said, “Oh. The boonies.” I’m still not sure if a place with so many malls should be considered “boonies,” but I’m nevertheless happy to be back (near) home, living at an Atlanta address and teaching at Georgia Tech.
My English 1101 course focuses on debates about media violence. Students hone writing skills while arguing about things they love: TV, movies, video games, sports, and more. In my 1102, students read Gothic novels, watch disturbing (and sometimes silly) movies, and write about how scary fictions reflect on technology. My 3401 deals with another source of fear: surviving in the workplace and the writing that helps people do it.
