Abyss
- back to p. 131 on The Flicker
"To the extent that full clarity and presence are obtainable in vision,
Nietzsche suggests, they take the form of illusion rather than truth."

Twilight (135)- to see abysses is to become aware of the absence or failure
of the ground, of that which would be present.
Duality is not to be despised but is the welcomed condition of discovery.
This is the "courageous vision always at risk.
Dwarf as leveler with evil eye. 136
Dwarf as seeing more and less, but not seeing the duality in the sign of the
Augenblick. Too quickly, the dwarf wants to resolve the tension, the duality.
He doesn't see the twilight nor have the courageous vision."
Augenblick is a sign of the sign of contradictory paths. As a sign it both unifies and splits the two things. (ex. "decieved" is being deceived-seeing and not seeing what is there. "Do not read this." Both obeys and breaks the law, obeying by reading the law and breaking by violating what it asks us to do.)
138: dwarf's seeing is schematic circle vs. Z's seeing is vertigo of depth
Wanderer and Shadow
Here is the conflict that is also a dialogue. Note how light is used on p. 141.
Not too much light or there is no shadow and no dialogue.
Not absence of light or, again, the shadow loses its identity.
Light doesn't bring truth, it brings flicker of light/shade.
