Rohan Bansal is 21 years old and currently a senior double majoring in Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Rohan was born of Indian descent, raised in the suburbs of Buffalo, New York and graduated from Nichols High Scool in 2002. His father also studied Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and is currently CEO of AirSep Corporation, a company that produces oxygen generators. His mother is a practicing physician specializing in pain management. Rohan became interested in computers at the young age of three, when his parents bought a 286 computer with a black and white display. He started fiddling with a painting program then moved on to use computers to enjoy various computer games throughout middle school and high school. In high school, he began tinkering with the inner workings of the computer, both hardware and software. He built and repaired computers for many of his parents friends as well as designed webpages for both a small startup company, Surya Technologies, and a few gaming clans. After working at AirSep, Rohan knew that he wanted to pursue engineering in college but was unsure about whether he wanted to study Mechanical or Computer Engineering. After switching back and forth between Mechanical and Computer Engineering, he decided he was interested in both and is now in his fourth year of a daunting double major at Georgia Tech. |
