Project 2: Inform Game

The environment and setting of my Inform game is that of a grim science-fiction battlefield, based loosely on Game Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe. Though it might simply be that I'm infatuated with the game and the dystopian universe it is set in, I had the motivation to use the setting for this relatively simple scenario set on the front lines of a war.

The player is set in the role of an Imperial Guardsmen stationed on his or her home planet which is being overrun by Space Orks, an infamous race of greenskinned brutes bent on war and bloodshed. The scenario I had originally planned for was a more subdued game where the player was a recruit trying to get to his or her commanding officer, but the problems with space and gameplay rose as that I had to scrap the idea in favor of a simpler, if more serious story and setting. While the space in this game originally started as a 3x3 grid, some areas and events were cut due to the complexity of coding. However, I still decided to provide the player with a number of ways to reach the objective.

The objective is basically to sneak your way over to the Ork fort and blow it up with a explosive charge in your possession, getting rid of the enemy commander in a decisive blow. One way is to try and charge the fort head on, but it's unlikely that the player would be able to get across 'No Man's Land'. Therefore either finding a better route or distracting the Ork defenses is recommended, as well as avoiding any unneeded fights considering that a single Ork is easily a match for a half-dozen men.
