PRESIDENT`S UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AWARDS (PURA)

President`s Undergraduate Research Awards (PURA) program competitively funds individual requests by a student/faculty teams for funds to be used to support undergraduate student involvement in faculty research. The awards will be used for student salaries and travel expenses for undergraduates to attend professional meetings to give presentations.


PURA distributes approximately 200 competitive awards per year in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. There are 2 different types of awards:


  • Salary Awards: Up to $1,500 salary awards to student/faculty teams for student`s hourly wages (approx. 150 hours).
  • Travel Awards: Up to $1,000 travel grants to present research work at national and international professional conferences.


Requirements

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and in good academic standing (GPA> 2.0)when they apply. Students wishing to work at Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) may also apply with a Research Scientist.


Applying for PURA

PURA is offered every semester. An electronic submission is required followed by an email from the faculty mentor as outlined in the instructions. An application is considered complete once both an application and an email from the faculty mentor has been received.
