TRANSFER POLICY

Science, Technology and Culture (STAC) program welcomes all students transferring from another major within the Georgia Institute of Technology or from another University/Institute. The Following simple rules apply to students who wish to be STAC majors:


Transferring from another major within Georgia Tech

- 1-59 credit hours: Students with 1-59 credit hours are eligible to transfer to STAC from another major within Georgia Tech upon the completion of English 1101 with a minimum grade of "B" (3.0).

- 60+ credit hours: Students with 60+ credit hours are eligible to transfer to STAC from another major within Georgia Tech upon:


  • the completion of English 1101 and 1102 with an average grade of 3.0* or above
  • the achievement of a 2.3 cumulative GPA


Juniors and seniors who want to become STAC majors but who do not have the 2.3 GPA are welcome to take LCC classes but cannot join our major until they have a 2.3 cumulative GPA.


Transferring from another College/University/Institute

Transfer students are eligible to enter Georgia Tech as STAC majors upon:


  • the completion of institutional and departmental requirements, as detailed at http://www.admiss.gatech.edu/transfer/#courses
  • the completion of English 1101 and 1102 with an average grade of 3.0* or above




* For the purposes of this evaluation, AP credit is assessed as 3.0 and transfer credit is assessed according to the transcript from the institution at which all equivalent courses were taken. Furthermore, students can place out of ENGL 1101 with


  • a score of 4 or higher on the AP "Composition and Literature" or "Language and Composition" test
  • OR
  • a score of 4 or higher on the International Baccalaureate English test
  • OR
  • a score of 750 or higher on the SAT II English test
