INTERNSHIPS

All Digital Media (DM) M.S. students are required to complete a one-term full-time internship during the summer between year one and year two of the DM program. Internships may be served in corporate, educational, public or private institutions, within or outside of the United States.

The responsibility for finding and securing an internship rests with the individual student. The Director of Graduate Studies will help students become aware of possible internship venues. When new internships become available, information is posted to the DM student e-mail list. In addition, DM students are eligible to participate in Georgia Tech`s Graduate Co-Op Program, which offers assistance in identifying possible internship sites.

In previous years, DM students have served internships as information architects and interactive designers at a variety of institutions, including

  • Amazon
  • Banff Center for the Arts
  • BellSouth
  • Center for Assistive Technology & Environmental Access (CATEA)
  • Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
  • CNN
  • Disney Imagineering
  • Eastman Kodak
  • Electronic Arts
  • Georgia Tech Research Institute

Internship organizations must identify a mentor and a workspace for students and include them in the design process.

Internships require pre-approval form and certification of completion form, both of which must be signed by the external supervisor and by the Director of Graduate Studies.

Students are expected to present their internship experience in a public meeting held at the beginning of the Fall semester. This session offers valuable information, for first year students, regarding the internship process.

Organizations wishing to offer internships should contact to the Office of the Director of Graduate Studies.
