PARTNERSHIPS

School of Literature, Communication and Culture`s (LCC) Italian Film Studies (IFS) Program is affiliated with DAMS-Gorizia of the University of Udine. DAMS stands for Film Studies, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Music and Theatre, a whole department headed by Prof. Leonardo Quaresima. DAMS-Gorizia affirms the internationally recognized model of the prestigious DAMS-Bologna founded in the seventies and originally linked to semiotician, novelist and medievalist Umberto Eco. During the month of March 2005 Prof. Kenneth Knoespel and Prof. Leonardo Quaresima signed an institutional agreement of cooperation that goes well beyond the Summer Program in Italian Film Studies.

The location of DAMS-Gorizia on the border between Western and Eastern Europe and its distinguished reputation as an interdisciplinary and international reseach center makes the University of Udine especially competitive for this grant called European Culture 2000. Such a grant was developed by the European Council to better understand the new situations emerging from an increasingly global community of countries, regions, institutions and specialists in mass media, the culture industry and the art world.
